Wi-Fi-only tablets and smartphones have the following options:

Note: An internet connection is required for the initial setup of the Duo Mobile app for both methods.

Add a Tablet or Smartphone (WiFi Option)

This panel provides steps that guide you through enrolling and activating the Duo Mobile app on your smartphone or tablet.

Before you begin, please download and install the free Duo Mobile app on your smartphone or tablet from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

Follow the one method below that matches your situation.

Method A: Enrolling Using a Computer (Recommended)
Use this method if you are sitting at a laptop or desktop computer. You will use your computer to display a QR code, which you will then scan with your phone.

  1. On your smart device, open the Duo Mobile app.
  2. Tap the Add or + button (whichever you see).
  3. Select Use QR code.
  4. If prompted, allow Duo Mobile access to your camera.
  5. Point your smart device's camera at the QR code on your computer screen to complete the activation.

Method B: Enrolling on Your Smart Device Only
Use this method if you are not using a computer and are doing the entire setup process in the browser on your smartphone or tablet.

  1. When you get to the "Activate Device" screen, you will see an activation link under option number 2.
  2. Tap this link.
  3. Your device will automatically open the Duo Mobile app to add your account and complete the activation.
  4. Add a name for the UA account to your Duo Mobile app.
  5. Your device will appear in the My Devices section near the top of the page.

Go to the next phase to log in with the device you added to your account.

Log in With Your Device

This panel explains how to log in using Duo Push and Duo Passcodes.

_______________

Instructions
The steps below begin after you're presented with a WebAuth screen. Log in with your NetID and password, where you'll be directed to the 2FA authentication page.

Follow these steps to use a tablet to log in:

Note: If you have previously logged in to 2FA, the default method will be the option that you last used. If you want to use a different method, click the Other Options button.

  1. Your computer screen directs you to check your device for a Duo push.
Optional: If you wish to use a Duo Mobile passcode instead of the Duo Mobile Push, skip down to the bottom of this panel.

  2. Check your device for a notification from Duo and select Approve.

  3. Confirm your identity on the browser screen as follows:

Note: ONLY confirm your identity if you are not using a shared device and you are actively attempting to log in to Duo.

  4. If you are presented with the following screenshot, click on the checkbox to Trust this browser for 30 days.

Note: Depending upon the service to which you are logging in, you may or may not see this prompt within the 30-day time frame. The recommendation is that if you want your browser to retain your credentials, you should always check the box as long as you are not on a shared device. Do not use this option on shared devices.

  5. Select Continue to application.

Optional - Use a Duo Mobile Passcode

  1. If desired, you can log in with a Duo Mobile passcode instead of using the Duo Mobile Push.
    1. Select the Other Options link.

    2. Select Duo Mobile passcode.

    3. Open the Duo Mobile app on your device and tap the Refresh Passcode link to generate a new code.
    4. Enter the code into the passcode field on your computer and select Verify.
    5. The rest of the process is the same as the Duo Mobile Push continuing from step 3 above.
