Admin by Request - User Guide

This article introduces the software called Admin By Request (ABR), which is a security solution for the control and management of local administrative rights on devices (desktops, laptops, etc.).

Those enrolled in an Endpoint Management solution such as Intune or Jamf have the ABR tool installed. This feature temporarily elevates our standard user accounts to administrators. It also provides our Enterprise Support staff with a way to perform administrative tasks and troubleshoot devices.

When to Use ABR

ABR may be needed for software installations and updates or for changing system settings on your workstation. If you get a message asking for administrative privileges to complete a task, ABR may be all you need.

Elevating to be an Administrator using the ABR tool is limited to the immediate task at hand. An elevated session lasts an hour and any task initiated with ABR will be closed once the time has expired.
