Instructions

  1. Go to the NetID Portal.
  2. Select Manage Your Account.
  3. Enter your NetID and Password and click Login.
  4. Your computer screen directs you to check your device for a Duo push.
  5. Under "Account Management," select Change Password.
  6. See Password Security for tips on how to choose a strong password.
  7. Enter your new password in the two fields and click Submit to validate it. Note that new passwords must be considered “Good” or “Strong” to be secure.

Notes:

  • Once the password is accepted and you get confirmation, you are done and can simply close the confirmation page.
  • If you have previously logged in to 2FA, the default method will be the option that you last used. If you want to use a different method, click the Other Options button.
  • After changing your password, remember to update it on any devices or applications where it is stored and used for NetID login (see the relevant panel below). For more information on how to do that, see NetID Passwords - Best Practices and Managing Saved Passwords.
Update Password on Connected Devices & Applications

To avoid the potential for account lockouts, you must update all connected devices with the new password. We recommend that you process all device and application password updates as soon as possible after a reset.

Syncing your New Password with Catnet
After changing your NetID password, you will also need to re-login to your university provided laptop or desktop using your new password. If possible, you should plan to do this when you are either on campus or logged into the UA VPN. We recommend rebooting your device and logging in with your new password. If you're on campus or connected to VPN, the update should happen automatically, but you'll likely need to use your new password after the reboot.

NoteWe also recommend connecting to UAVPN using the Start Before Login option first. This ensures your credentials sync properly and prevents cached password conflicts that could lead to a lockout. Once connected to the VPN with your new password, you should be able to log in to Windows successfully.
